Enlisted in March 1915 and sent to France in November of the same year. He fought in the battles of St Eloi, Albert, Vimmy Ridge, The Somme, Arras, Bullecourt, Messines, Ypres, Passchendaele and Cambrai. He was gassed twice and subsequently invalided out of the army in the December of 1918. His death recorded effects of Gas Poisoning.
Wife Mary Ann Ostick. Mother possibly Rose Ostick/Turner, raised around the Gate Street area. A coal miner.
John Ostricks death was registered locally. The couple lived at 31 Gate Street, Swinton.
